It’s a package deal! $200 gets you 20 pages (or 5000 words)* of developmental and/or line editing (fiction, nonfiction, or novel in progress) plus a 1/2 hour meeting or phone call to discuss edits or next steps.
In Developmental Editing, we may explore your idea, highlight ways to grow your story (or compress it!), discover themes and forms. Developmental editing looks at a piece from a distance and may even include shuffling sections around in order to build tension or refine pace.
Line Editing is just that: editing lines and passages for word choice, grammar, punctuation use. This editing typically happens in final stages of polishing your work for submissions and/or publication.
*For longer works, such as a collection of stories or essays, a memoir or a novel, fees can be negotiated. As an editor, my goal is to help you get your story out into the world, not to hinder your progress with expensive fees.
